OMUK KOREA RESTAURANT IN YANGON, MYANMAR

The OMUK  Restaurant is a famous Korea restaurant with 10 branches in Yangon. I had a lunch in Tamine City Mart Branch. The word “omuk” means fish cake in Korean.
So I think this restaurant main dishes are a fish cake and Korea snacks.

This restaurant has an open concept kitchen where you can watch the cooking process. Some gimbap, tteokbokki, fish cakes can be seen at the table.

Most of the menus are snacks. The food price is not expensive. As the restaurant’s name is omuk, I ordered fish cake, tteokbokki, tuna gimbap, and cheese gimbap.

Finally, the food ordered came with a wooden tray

First I started eating tteokbokki. Tteokbokki is a popular snack in Korea. It is a snack stir-fried with red pepper paste(gochujang), red pepper powder, rice cake, vegetables and so on.
This restaurant’s Tteokbokki includes many fish cakes. It’s a bit spicy not very spicy. For reference, I can eat spicy foods well.
This tteokbokki cooked well. Tteokbokki, which is eaten outside of Korea, sometimes has a completely different taste but this restaurant is almost like the original.

The second food was gimbap. Gimbap is a dish of sticky rice, vegetables, ham, cheese, tuna and so on wrapped in seaweed.
I ordered tuna gimbap and cheese gimbap. Tuna Gimbap contains carrots, pickled radish, and tuna. The taste was good, but it would be more flavor if sesame oil was added more.

Finally the fish cake …
The fish cake was soft and fresh. And fish cake soup was a bit spicy and delicious.

The restaurant was clean and I paid total 5,200kyat.
I think this is reasonable price. And the taste of food was not worse than other Korean restaurants in Yangon. First of all, Tteokbokki was really delicious.
I want to visit again next time and eat other foods.
